TEDx is coming to southwest Arkansas!
TEDxUAHT will be held on April 4, 2020 on the beautiful campus of the University of Arkansas Hope in Hempstead Hall. Hempstead County is already brimming with momentum to go farther than we ever have and we’re on the brink of more amazing things happening right here in our own backyard. Since TEDx promotes “ideas worth spreading," this will help build upon the excitement to help better our community and region.
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less) delivered by today’s leading thinkers and doers. Many of these talks are given at TED’s annual conference in Vancouver, British Columbia, and made available, free, on TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Sal Khan and Daniel Kahneman.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.
TEDxUAHT is a single day conference where we will host a series of speakers, each presenting a TEDx Talk to an engaged audience of 100 thinkers, creators and doers. TEDxUAHT will set the stage for innovators from technology, entertainment, and designers to have meaningful conversations and gain new insights to make their ideas stronger and more global. We will integrate UAHT’s mission to connect students and community while promoting our ideas worth spreading to a global community. HOPE is a place worth believing in, full of innovators who have generated ideas worth spreading. Our theme for TEDxUAHT 2020 is “Hope Lives Here” and it will highlight the good and provoke all attendees to seek HOPEful solutions to our challenges.
Our team is working hard to bring in amazing speakers, performers and experiences to motivate thought-provoking discussions about how Hope, Hempstead County and southwest Arkansas can thrive -- how will YOU be involved?
In order to provide an experience worth having to promote these ideas worth spreading, we need your help. Please take a look through our Partner Opportunities booklet and consider a donation since TEDxUAHT can only happen through support from you.
“Hope Lives Here” and we hope you will join us because together we can promote the good things happening here and face the challenges ahead to better ourselves, our community and our future.
